DIY: CANADA DAY TEES

This year, Canada Day mark's Canada's 150th birthday! Whether you're partying on Ottawa's parliament Hill, or having a low-key BBQ with friends & fam, celebrate our home and native land wearing a super cute Ardene Canada t-shirt. We're obsessed with the lace-up trend, so we tried it out!

YOU NEED

CANADA DAY T-SHIRT - pick your fave!

EYELETS - We got our at Michael's. We chose the 9.5mm size, but you could go for smaller ones.

EYELET TOOLS - got 'em at the same store. There's 2 tools in the package: the eyelet barrel & the anvil. Instruction on the back of the package, too.

STRING - cord, yarn, ribbon, shoelace.. you decide! Make sure to have 3 meters.

HAMMER

SCISSORS

SHARPIE

TAPE MEASURE

PIECE OF CARDBOARD OR PAPER

STEP 1

Pick your fave Canada t-shirt! Are you a Canada Bae? Maybe more of a tomboy? Eh?

STEP 2

Depending on the neckline of your t-shirt, create a new V-shape neckline – the eyelets & tie-up front will look best on a V. Use a measuring tape to make sure the two sides are lined up, and equal. Now cut away!

STEP 3

Now, you’re ready to mark where your eyelets will go. Make sure both sides are equal.

Place your eyelets on the shirt to see how it’ll look – use a sharpie to colour in the holes where they’ll be. Place a piece of cardboard or paper underneath, so that it doesn't mark up the other side. This is your guide for when we get to hammering.

STEP 4

It’s time to place 'em! The sharp eyelet (with the raised side) goes on the front of the shirt, and the flat eyelet goes on the inside. The anvil (that’s the long, heavier piece that pushes out the middle fabric piece) fits into the solid circle piece on the front.

NOW find a solid ground – concrete, wood, just make sure it’s a place that you can hammer on. Release all your stress LOL. Really give it a good wack – the sharp part has to merge with the flat back piece.

Instant satisfaction, eh?

STEP 5

After you’ve done all of those, get your string ready. Cut 3 meters to be safe & just trim it after.

Now you’re ready to rock your Canada Day tee whereva you'll be celebrating, woo!
