DIY HALLOWEEN CUPCAKES

WARNING: Cupcakes in picture are more delicious than they appear.
Monsters and ghosts and black cats, oh my! There's nothing better than cupcakes, really. Especially when they're decorated like a ghoulish delight! Want to recreate these graveyard goodies?
Scroll down if you dare....muahahahaha.

Here's what you'll need for your creepy cupcakes:

1. Cake mix
2. Food coloring (liquid or gel)
3. White icing
4. Cake fondant & rolling pin (if you wish!)
5. Halloween-shaped cookie cutters (for fondant)
6. Piping bag & nozzles
7. Your favorite decorations (we used candy and colored sugar!)
8. Baking cups
9. Spatula or butter knife

Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, follow the instructions of the cake mix. Line your muffin pan with baking cups (brownie points if they're orange & black!). Fill up each cup 2/3 full of cake mix.

Step 2: Bake according to the cake mix instructions. Once baked, take out to cool completely.

Step 3: In the meantime, it's time for icing! Separate your white icing into different mixing bowls, depending on how many colors you want to make. Put in a few drops of food coloring and mix, mix, mix!

Don't worry about having to add more food coloring in. Add a drop at a time to get the color you want.
Step 4: At this point, check on your cupcakes. If they aren't room temperature yet, you're going to melt your icing! Nobody likes a DIY Disaster!
Step 5: Snip the end of your piping bag and place your piping nozzle into the open end. Spoon in the icing color of your choice! Twist the bag closed and start piping! If you want tips on how to ice your cupcakes like a pro, click here.

*If you don't have piping bags and all those accessories galore, have no fear! Grab a spatula or butter knife and butter those bad boys up with icing.
Step 6: For your fondant cupcakes, roll out the fondant on a sheet of aluminium or waxed paper with a rolling pin.
Step 7: If you want to dye your fondant, roll it out, splash a few drops of food coloring onto the surface, and fold back into a ball, then roll back out with the pin. Repeat until color is spread evenly throughout the fondant!
WARNING: Wear gloves! That stuff is potent. No one likes stained hands!

Step 8: Use those cookie cutters to cut cool shapes out of your fondant! You can also cut out shapes with a pointy knife.
Step 9: Go to town with your cupcake decorations! When we say don't sugar-coat it, we actually mean sugar-coat it. Like, with a lot of sugar. I mean, look how CUTE they look!

Almost too cute to eat. But then again, no, we totally ate them. All of them. #sorrynotsorry

Stuff your face and enjoy!
