DIY Alert: Sea Salt Hair Spray

Fool your friends into thinking you've spent the entire day at the beach with this DIY sea salt hair spray!

This recipe gives your hair that carefree, beachy, waviness that you get after a day in the sun and the sea! Best part? We've added a sweet smelling ingredient that not only smells amazing, but nourishes your hair to counteract the drying effects of salt water.

What you'll need:

-Coconut Oil
-Fine Sea Salt
-1 cup of hot water
-1 teaspoon
-1 spray bottle

Step 1:

Fill the spray bottle with 1 cup of hot water.
*Depending on how big your bottle is, you may want to double this recipe.

Step 2:

Add 1 teaspoon of sea salt (per 1 cup of water). Shake the bottle and let it dissolve.

Step 3:

Add 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil (per 1 cup of water).
*You want the water in your spray bottle to be hot so that the coconut oil dissolves properly. You can always melt down the coconut oil prior to adding it in.

This is the key ingredient that smells amazing, and is so good for your hair! Be careful not to add too much - it can make your hair look greasy.

Step 4:

If your hair doesn't tend to wave/curl naturally or hold curls well, you may want to add 1/2 teaspoon of hair gel to the mix just to be sure your waves stick around all day.

Step 5:

Screw the lid on the bottle, and shake it well.
Spray it on to damp or dry hair and scrunch your hair from your tips up to your roots.

Pick out the perfect "beach ready" outfit, and no one will ever know you've spent an entire day in the city!

  1. I noticed as the mixture cooled that the coconut oil separates. Is there any way to prevent that from happening?

  2. Yeah I still use it on damp hair and it gives a nice shape to your hair :) works just as good!!!
